The Room of Memory, located on the first floor of the Teatro Trianon Viviani in Naples, is a public space dedicated to the knowledge, enjoyment, and enhancement of the heritage of Neapolitan song and the musical cultures of Campania.
The historic Enrico Caruso Hall becomes a meeting point between memory and contemporaneity, where visitors can access the digital contents of the SoNa – Music Context portal, part of the ArCCa digital ecosystem, promoted by the Campania Region and implemented by SCABEC S.p.A.
Curated by Pasquale Scialò, scientific coordinator of SoNa, the Room of Memory offers direct contact with a heritage spanning over two centuries of musical history, from the nineteenth-century golden age to the present day. Visitors can consult audio recordings, printed scores, autograph manuscripts, posters, playbills, programmes, photographs, caricatures, films, and videos. Through interactive tables and monitors, the archive becomes an intuitive and engaging experience—alive, emotional, and shared.
Conceived as an open space for both professionals and the general public, the Room welcomes scholars, musicians, enthusiasts, and visitors who wish to explore scores and scripts, discover authors and performers, and reconnect with the masterpieces of a musical tradition loved worldwide. The experience is also designed for international audiences, offering an accessible and compelling narrative of one of Italy’s most significant musical heritages.
