Festival
The Ethnos International Festival of Ethnic Music was established in 1995 with the objective of reviving the traditional customs of the Vesuvian region. Since its inception, the festival has expanded its scope, becoming one of the major observatories of ethnic music and one of the most important and eagerly awaited music festivals in Italy.
The festival's itinerant format has consistently involved multiple cultural sites in the Vesuvian area, including the Miglio d'Oro villas, Vesuvius National Park, and the cultural heritage of the Vesuvius coastline. These sites have been enhanced and made accessible to the general public, extending the average length of stay of tourists in the area.
The festival's programming includes numerous activities designed to foster cross-cultural understanding and communication. These activities utilize music and art as a means of enhancing the local heritage sites. The festival aims to bridge the gap between the past and the future, between tradition and contemporary art, and between the Mediterranean region and the global community.
From September 6 to October 3, the music and energy of the festival, now in its 30th year, will arrive in Naples, San Giorgio a Cremano, Portici, Ercolano, Torre del Greco, Boscotrecase, Boscoreale, and Castellammare di Stabia.
The 30th edition of the Ethnos Festival is organized by La Bazzarra with the contribution of the Campania Region through Scabec, the Ministry of Culture, the municipalities of Naples, San Giorgio a Cremano, Portici, Ercolano, Torre del Greco, Boscotrecase, and Castellammare di Stabia, the Vesuvius National Park Authority, Nuovo IMAIE, Banca di Credito Popolare, with the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Naples and the collaboration of the Department of Agriculture of the University of Naples Federico II.
