Tomaso Binga’s Euforia at Madre Museum

From April 18 to July 21, the Donnaregina Foundation for Contemporary Arts – Madre Museum presents Euforia Tomaso Binga, curated by Eva Fabbris and Daria Kahn and the exhibition design is by Rio Grande. This is the most comprehensive museum retrospective ever dedicated to the artist, retracing over forty years of her work through more than 120 pieces: visual poems, installations, photographs, collages, documents, and performative records – many of them exhibited for the first time or shown again after decades – from museums and private collections.

The title of the exhibition emerged from a dialogue between the artist and curator Eva Fabbris: Euforia – a word favored by Binga for its full range of vowels and expansive sound – becomes, as Fabbris explains, “a manifesto-title, a wish, a political necessity for resistance.” It’s a term that perfectly reflects the spirit of the artist, defining both her approach to verbo-visual practices and her commitment to feminist thought and action.
