Museo
galleria non a scopo di lucro e/o raccolta
The Museum was established by the artist Salvatore Emblema with the objective of creating a dedicated space in his hometown of Terzigno for the education, study and dissemination of contemporary art. It is one of the few Italian examples of a house museum that, occupying an area of approximately 600 square metres indoors and 3000 square metres in the sculpture park, brings together the artist's most significant works. Furthermore, the museum contains facilities for didactic workshops, which are designed to introduce students of varying levels to the subject of art. In accordance with Salvatore Emblema's own intentions, the museum places great emphasis on the importance of transparency, not merely as a cultural concept, but also and above all as a fundamental aspect of life, behaviour, interaction and sharing with others. In light of this, the museum's educational programmes place significant emphasis on youth education in an area such as Naples, which presents a number of challenges.
The works that comprise the exhibition are subject to a six-month rotation, thereby enabling the museum's permanent collection to be fully visible over time while simultaneously being organised in accordance with rigorous criteria. However, the collection is also designed to be highly flexible and, when necessary, functional for play-educational activities.
In recent years, the museum has assumed an increasingly prominent role as a catalyst for emerging talents on the contemporary art scene, both from Campania and beyond. Concurrently, it has become a hub for artists and art scholars to convene and engage in cross-cultural dialogue.
The Museum also houses the General Archives, an office dedicated to collecting, cataloguing and protecting the research and works of Salvatore Emblema.
Run under the unanimous control of all the artist's heirs, the Archive is the body that guarantees and certifies all the artist's work.
Since 2009, it has been considered a Museum of Regional Interest for the quality of its initiatives and the beneficial effects of its work on the territory.
