Museo della marineria Torrese

The small museum is located in the historical building of the State Railways. Inside you can see a number of sections which, over the years, have been enriched with other objects and documents relating to the history of the Torrese Navy:

• Collection of tools related to the work in the shipyards
• Biographies of many shipbuilders and history of the shipyards
• Nautical models of Torrese
• Classical models for educational purposes
• Shipboard equipment and nautical instruments
• Instruments for safety at sea
• Photographic repertoire dedicated to the shipowners of Torrese, with contemporary photos of that extraordinary epic that in the 19th century and the first decades of the last century laid the foundations for the economy and prosperity of the city.
• Documents on the ancient nautical arts of Torre (sailmakers, caulkers, sawyers, rope-makers).
  There is also a section dedicated to the Italian Navy, which recalls the extraordinary exploits of Commander Ajmone Cat in Antarctica. The documentation on the "Gente di Mare" (which allowed the Italian fleets, both merchant and passenger, to sail the oceans of the world) is now collected on CDs and DVDs and can be viewed on a computer. One of the aims of the museum is to make young people aware of the cultural, social and artistic elements (long lost) of our maritime tradition. The museum is therefore a historical and educational place of collective memory: a message written by the Torre del Greco Naval League Section for this and future generations of Torre del Greco citizens.
