The Inventory of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Campania catalogues the intangible cultural heritage and traditional practices related to the traditions, knowledge, practices, know-how of the communities of Campania, as defined by the **UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of 17 October 2003, ratified by Italy with Law no. 167/2007.
The creation of the Inventory is an action to safeguard and promote the intangible cultural heritage of the communities of the Region. The Inventory is a tool to maintain the vitality of the intangible cultural heritage and to support those public or private entities that actively participate in its valorisation and management, provided that they are non-profit-making.
Entities applying for the inscription of an intangible cultural element in the IPIC must demonstrate, among other things, the historicity of the candidate cultural element, the practice of which must be attested for at least the fifty years preceding the application for inscription, the persistence of social values and cultural meanings related to the identity value of the cultural element, the persistence of moments of formal and informal transmission, the involvement of the younger generations, the respect of gender equality in access to the cultural element and the active participation of the community of reference in the implementation of actions to safeguard and enhance the cultural element.
The deadline for submitting applications for the registration of Campania's Intangible Cultural Elements with the IPIC for the year 2024 is from 1 September 2024 to 31 January 2025.
Applications must be sent exclusively by certified e-mail to staff.501291_ipic@pec.regione.campania.it.
